Dr. Ferrante S. Gragasin, BSc (Hons), PhD (CIP), MD, FRCPC

Dr. Ferrante S. Gragasin, BSc (Hons), PhD (CIP), MD, FRCPC is an Anesthesiologist who practices out of the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He completed his Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiology followed by his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Alberta. He then completed the five-year residency program in Anesthesiology and became certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in the specialty of Anesthesiology. While practicing as an independent physician, Dr. Gragasin then completed further training and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology at the University of Alberta, which has facilitated him to become a clinician-scientist.
Aside from his clinical work, Dr. Gragasin currently teaches at the undergraduate, graduate, medical student, and resident levels at the University of Alberta. He is also the Postgraduate Research Director of the Anesthesiology residency program and shares a laboratory space in the Katz Group Centre for Health Research at the University of Alberta where he investigates the effects of anesthetic agents on the aging cardiovascular system.
